At Talumo, we build, operate, and grow our own portfolio of brands — and lead marketing for a select number of companies that want operators, not advisors.
What Talumo is
Talumo works across eCommerce, digital media, content, SaaS, and consumer brands in two ways. We build and operate our own ventures — brands we’ve started from zero and brands we’ve acquired. And we take on a small number of outside engagements, leading growth for companies that want more than recommendations.
The two halves feed each other. The portfolio is where every playbook gets tested with our own money. The client work is where those proven playbooks get applied to someone else’s P&L. When we suggest a move, it’s not theory — we ran it last month, in our own accounts, and we can show you what happened.
The experience behind it
The Talumo team is now led by Tom Hughes who has more than 30 years leading marketing inside the Fortune 500 companies and small businesses.
Across his time at AT&T and NRG, he directed a $125M+ global sponsorship portfolio across the NFL, NBA, MLB, and Formula One, managed $250M+ in annual ad spend, and led teams of 135+. He’s run marketing for a seven-brand consumer portfolio, overseeing $125M+ in annual marketing investment, acquiring more than a million new customers a year, and delivering $50M+ in annual EBITDA impact against a full P&L.
He previously served Talumo as an investor and strategic advisor, helping shape marketing and growth across our portfolio of owned and client brands. Now he leads it.
The lesson from all of it: the disciplines that make a quarter-billion-dollar budget accountable are the same ones that make a $5K-a-month budget work. Kill criteria before launch. Creative testing as a system. Measuring what pays rent. Big-company discipline, applied at founder speed — with none of the corporate weight in between.
What we believe
Taste is a strategy. In a market flooded with AI-generated everything, judgment and craft are the moat. We use AI aggressively on work that has a right answer, and guard the work that requires taste.
Own the outcome. We invest our own time and capital in what we build and buy. When we lead marketing for someone else’s company, we operate like owners — because that’s the only version that works.
Range is an edge. Commerce, SaaS, travel, content. Working across sectors means patterns become playbooks, and playbooks travel.
Ship, then sharpen. Real products in front of real people fast, then relentless refinement. Momentum beats perfection, at first.
